I am a web developer, and needs to work with min 3 browsers with over 20-25 tabs open in every one of them, 1 IDE, will have probably 2-3 text files open, OpenOffice/Libre Office documents .. etc etc.. along with 2 web servers and MySQL database engine running in background. (and did i mention these all run in Linux OS? )Whow, this machine lifts all these like a feather. It boots up in less than 15 secs. It Opens heavy IDE like Netbeans in 10-15 secs. It is lightning speed. Internet speed is phenomenal – getting 100% plan speed in my laptop! The display is tiny compared to my previous 15 inch laptop, and had to play with scaling to make the fonts same size as that of my external monitor.Things to note :1. If you are going to run Linux on this machine, this is a newer chip, so LTS and already released kernals wont support the HW (if you are using Linux) You will need to get Linux 5.11 kernel with green sardine firmware using Mainline application to get full support of display and wifi. Even then, the laptop wont fully shutdown when we do so. need to fix it when i get time.2. DONT dare to compare this chip – 5500u – with Intel i5 10 and 11 gen laptop chips. If you want to compare the performance, compare it with i7 10 Gen.3. 5500u is almost effectively a re-branded 4600u – Although manufactures claim it has many good things from their Zen3 architecture. Geekbench scores are similar for both the processors. (Even if it is correct, 5500u is cheaper than 4600u)4. Research good before getting Intel chips. It is almost a generation behind AMDs. There are many websites which have CPU benchmark ratings and comparisons.5. Advertisement : Windows slows down machines after some time. Get Linux. You can have same user friendliness and looks of Windows with Linux Mint and other distributions now a days.Thanks.
